The teen years can be hard - for both teens themselves and for their parents. I provide a nonjudgmental, kind space to get to know teens - their whole self, not just their problems. I put emphasis on developing a supportive, trusting therapeutic relationship where teen clients can feel safe exploring their thoughts, feelings and challenges.
At times, I may use art therapy techniques, therapeutic board games, having a cup of tea together, or making a sand tray. I engage teen clients in identifying goals for theirselves and help families work towards those goals with support.
I work with teens experiencing anxiety, OCD, depression, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, traumatic events, grief, academic pressures, preparing to leave home for college, social dynamics with friends, alcohol and drugs, gender identity exploration, and experiences of bullying or harassment.
I would love to talk with you to see if I might be a fit for your teen. Please message or call me so we can chat.
With children 4-12, I typically use play therapy, art and sand tray to engage kids in the therapeutic process in the way they engage with the world. I have a welcoming office with toys, art and fidgets visible and accessible.
I work to build rapport and a sense of safety with each family that comes in, getting to know them and their unique family goals for therapy. As we build rapport I also am looking for family and child strengths and resiliencies, as well as learning what the areas of struggle are. I engage in goal-setting in a collaborate manner that includes children without pathologizing them.
I work with families and children struggling with trauma, anxiety, OCD, depression, life transitions, identity exploration, self-esteem struggles, ADHD and anger management.
Therapeutic methods I use depend on what each child and family are needing and may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), EMDR Trauma Therapy, Client Centered Play Therapy or Family Therapy.
I am also available to work with parents to find ways you can support your child's emotional well-being at home.
I would love to talk with you and see if I might be a good fit for your child or family. Please don't hesitate to give me a call or send me a message.
Please call or message me to talk about whether I may be the right therapist for your child or teen.
